How to use XM on MetaTrader 5
MT5 is a later MetaQuotes terminal. On XM it is a separate product from MT4: separate installer, separate server list, and usually a separate account number. Do not paste an MT4 login into this window and expect a session.
Why XM treats MT5 as its own path
MT5 can show more timeframes, a different market-watch layout, and pending types that MT4 never had (including stop-limit on many builds). Depth of market, if XM enables it for a symbol, lives here — not in the MT4 ticket.
XM may offer MT5 for an account type that is not available on MT4. Check the label in the member area before you download anything.
Get the MT5 build XM lists
Use the MT5 download or store badge on XM’s site for your device. Installing a generic “MetaTrader 5” from an unrelated site can leave the XM server out of the list. After setup, log in with the MT5 login, investor or master password as labelled, and the exact server string from the cabinet.
Toolbox and history are not the website
The Toolbox (or similar panel) holds trade history, news, and sometimes a calendar. Those rows describe the terminal session. Deposits, document review, and password recovery for the website still happen in the member area.
Orders that only exist on this terminal
Besides market and the four classic pendings, many MT5 builds add buy stop limit and sell stop limit. Netting versus hedging — if XM exposes both — is an account setting, not a button you invent in the ticket. If the ticket rejects a type, the symbol or account does not support it.
Wrong terminal, right broker
A valid XM member-area session does not prove MT5 will accept the login. If the journal says invalid account, you likely have an MT4 or web-only login. Switch to the MT4 guide or reopen the account list in the cabinet.
Use MT4 if that is the labelled product. Login covers the cabinet; start-trading covers the first live ticket on whichever terminal you were assigned.
Common questions
Will my MT4 login work in MT5?
No. Use the MT5 login XM printed for that account. Opening MT4 is a different page.
Does MT5 include a built-in calendar?
Many builds show a calendar or news tab in the toolbox. Treat it as a terminal panel, not XM’s legal disclosures.
Can I hedge on MT5?
Only if the XM account type allows it. The ticket cannot create a hedging mode the server turned off.
Where do I fund from inside MT5?
Funding is a member-area action. See the deposits guide. The terminal shows balances after the server updates.
